The NASA/NASCAR Connection

NASCAR uses many things NASA made for space flight. They make racing safer.

To keep the astronaut's body cool while walking in space, they wear a cool suit. Cold water moves through tubes in the suit and helmet. This cools the body. Racecar drivers can get too hot, too. They use a type of cool suit. Their suits have holes that help keep heat and sweat away from their bodies.

NASA made a foam for aircraft seats. Racecar drivers wear a collar made from the foam to protect their necks in a crash.

Racecar engines give off a lot of heat. Drivers use the material that keeps the Shuttle from burning up when it comes back to Earth. It is used inside the car. It keeps the driver from getting too hot.

These are just a few of the things NASA has made that help NASCAR. NASA helps make
